I HANDLED MY CHARM WITH TIME AND SLIGHT OF HAND.
This is Bea Olivia Howlett, twenty year old college sophomore majoring in dance with a minor in psychology and part-time lifeguard since she’s pretty much broke. Bea was always one of those ’rich kids gone wrong’ sort of girls. She came from a home that looked so perfect from the outside - big house in Maine, five successful kids, a father who managed a successful business, and a mother who stayed home to take care if her children. Hell, they even had a dog! But there were cracks. Her parents’ marriage was rapidly diminishing - her father involved in several affairs which her mother dealt with because, well, he had money. Bea was never a good girl. Her parents tried several tempts to tame her - an all girls school, threatening to ban her from ballet, but in the end neither had the time or will to sort her out. It’s not like she was terrible,- she graduated high school with a fairly decent GPA, but along the way were an abundance of underage drinking and smoking, hookups with guys who were ways too old, and a string of random girlfriends when she was a confused seventeen year old. But the cracks finally led to a crumble a couple of years ago - her father was arrested for tax invasion. The house was repossessed and, since the money that their marriage depended on was gone, a divorce ensued. Bea lived in a dingy apartment with her mother was a month or so, before moving in with her oldest brother and his family, who later began funding her university education in Florida.
Bea can be quiet, but not shy. She's just not one of those talking at a thousand miles an hour chit-chat sort of girls. And when she does speak, it's often laced with sarcasm. She can also seem very standoffish and hot-headed. She says what she thinks without considering how others will respond to this. It's not that she's a horrible person, she just has a limited trust in others, and is very defensive, keeping herself to herself.
the relationships
I'M JUST TRYING TO LOVE YOU ANY KIND OF WAY.
I'M JUST TRYING TO LOVE YOU ANY KIND OF WAY.
FRIENDS -- this is a funny one. Bea isn’t a loner, but she isn’t exactly a cutesy cutesy ‘let’s braid each other’s hair’ BFF type of girl. She’s likely to have more guy friends since guys, on the whole, seem to deal better with her sarcastic attitude. But anything is good. Maybe a partner in crime sort of person, since she’s a bit mischievous, maybe just those sorts of friends who offers a lighter when you’re standing in the cold dying for a cig, but you wouldn’t have a heart to heart with.
ENEMIES -- I wouldn’t say Bea really has enemies. Not because she’s an angel and everybody loves her, but because she doesn’t really have the passion to feel that strongly and anyone or anything, resulting in a lack of enemies. But that doesn’t mean she gets along with people. She’ll have people that she clashes with or just annoys, but I can’t see anyone on a huge enemies level, but if you have any ideas I’m willing to hear them.
LOVERS -- Bea’s only ever had one relationship, and that ended badly. She was sixteen and stupid enough to think it would last forever. The only thing that lasted forever was the tattoo of his jersey number she has on her ribcage. Oh so cliche. But ask her why she has it and she'll tell you it's her favourite ice hockey player's jersey jumber. Aside from that, the past five-ish years have been a jumble of hookups and ‘friends with benefits’. She’s a pretty defensive girl, and completely doesn’t wear her heart on her sleeve. She would never admit to loving someone in the fear that that level of dependence on another would make her look weak. Again, I’m open to whatever, let’s hear it!
